Nap Schedules by Age

The actual schedules we used from 2 months to 18 months. We were flexible up to 30 minutes on either side of each listed time. Not perfect, just consistent.

Important note

These are the schedules that worked for our baby. Every baby is different. Use these as a starting point and adjust based on your child's cues. The times are approximate - we were flexible 30 minutes either way.

2 Months Old

Key principles

  • Consistency over perfection. The schedule doesn't have to be exact - 30 minutes either way is fine.
  • Watch for sleep cues. If baby is showing tired signs earlier, put them down earlier.
  • The bedtime is sacred. Daytime naps can be flexible; bedtime less so.
  • Transitions take time. Moving from 3 naps to 2, or 2 to 1, can be rocky. Give it a week or two.

Not gospel

If your baby isn't following this exactly, that's okay. These are guidelines, not rules. Some babies need more sleep, some need less. Follow your baby's cues.
